My Holocaust Project

The Poems I Found

"Frozen Moments" by Daniel Richards

As I sit here, seperated but together
Drowning behind the embers of bridges broken of old
Thinking of all the good thing and bad thing I've done
And they confirm suspisions

"Passion" by Charlotte Bronte

Tell me, if with wandering bands
I roam full far away,
Wilt thou, to those distant lands,
In spirit ever stray?

The Devil's Arithmetic 170 pgs.

"They're Nazis. Nazis. Do you understand me?" Hannah shouts. The Devil's Arithmetic, by Jane Yolen, is about a young girl who is transported back in time during the Holocaust and ends up in a small town. She is sent there to learn that Jewish holidays are important and not just a boring trip to Grandpa's house. She faces tough decisions and the feeling of no one understanding her. Such as, when she was explaining that the people were really Nazis, but everyone thought she was going crazy. Hannah learns the lesson. " Be thankful for what you have," throughout the book from her actions and the others around her.
